(Daily Daegu Gyeongbuk News = Reporter Hwang Ji-hyeon) Gyeongsangbuk-do ranked first in the country in qualitative evaluation (excellent policy cases) in the ‘2024 (2023 performance) government joint evaluation’ hosted by the Ministry of Public Administration and Security and was selected as an excellent local government for the second consecutive year since last year. done.

Last year, Gyeongsangbuk-do focused on leading a clear local era in which regional policies were created and completed on their own, under the challenging message of ‘leading the great transformation of the Republic of Korea with the power of Gyeongbuk’.

Last year, Governor Lee Cheol-woo ordered the development of policies to realize the national goal of ‘local era’, such as establishing a local era policy bureau for the first time in the country.

To this end, we created an environment and atmosphere in which public officials can conduct their own research and innovate by promoting policies such as special lectures on chemical engineering (let’s study on Tuesdays), operation of K-window in the provincial office open library, and idea ventures for young civil servants.

As a result, Gyeongbuk’s unique policies were implemented in areas such as nurturing regional talent, responding to low birth rates, and supporting the underprivileged, and this evaluation objectively proved that the Gyeongbuk policy can become Korea’s standard policy.

The government joint evaluation is the only comprehensive evaluation system for local governments at the government level that evaluates national delegated affairs, national treasury subsidy projects, and major national policies hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and performed by 17 metropolitan local governments in collaboration with 29 central ministries.

Quantitative evaluation is conducted to determine whether goals have been achieved, and qualitative evaluation is conducted to select best policy cases. This year, a joint evaluation team (77 people) evaluated a total of 106 evaluation indicators (87 quantitative indicators, 19 qualitative indicators) and The final result was confirmed after mutual verification between cities and provinces.

Gyeongbuk ranked first in the country, with 13 of the 19 qualitative evaluation indicators selected as excellent examples.

Gyeongbuk, which achieved second place at the metropolitan level in the qualitative evaluation in last year’s joint evaluation, was once again recognized for its level of administrative power by overcoming existing limitations by pursuing differentiated policies.

The selected best policy cases are ▲ linkage and cooperation between universities and local governments (KU City in the era of local settlement, selection of the nation’s largest regional innovation-oriented university support system pilot area (RISE) and glocal universities), ▲ linkage and cooperation between local governments. (Construction of Daegu-Gyeongbuk Integrated New Airport and incorporation of Gunwi-gun into Daegu Metropolitan City), ▲Cloud conversion and use (construction of Gyeongbuk-type cloud data center, introduction of SaaS-based public institution integrated business system for the first time in a metropolitan area), ▲Family Center Family Service (nation’s first child care service) Support for out-of-pocket expenses, housing support for foreigners settling down with the nation’s first regional specialized visa, and Hope Connection Project), ▲ Citizen-participatory veterans culture events and experiences (Gyeongbuk Independence Movement Memorial Hall directly operated by the metropolitan local government), ▲ Activation of volunteerism (beachcombing with the university community service corps) ), ▲Vitalization of bicycle use (fostering a new industry using electric cargo bicycles for the first time in the country), etc.

Meanwhile, in the government joint evaluation, Gyeongbuk Province achieved its goal in the quantitative evaluation sector, which was newly established separately in 2018, with 83 out of 87 indicators achieving the target, achieving a performance of 95.4%, up 2.7% from last year’s 92.7%, setting an all-time high.

Governor Lee Cheol-woo said, “It is meaningful that the efforts to create a new Republic of Korea led by Gyeongbuk have led to a joint evaluation result recognized by the government.” “We will focus all our capabilities to implement policies that provide high satisfaction to residents,” he said.
