Founded in 2007 by CEO Shin Woo-seok (40), the Dolphin Squad was known in 2016 as ‘Ahn Jung-hwan’s Power Movie (Canon commercial)’. This proved CEO Shin’s humor and storytelling ability. What does the name ‘Dolphin Kidnappers’ mean?

The name doesn’t mean anything. But a long time ago, I talked with my teammates about releasing a dolphin trapped in an aquarium into the sea. It was a joke at the time, but maybe it touches the direction we need to go and the value we want to pursue. I don’t want our moves to be trapped somewhere or tied to anything.

The value that the Dolphin Kidnappers pursue is freedom.

To be honest, I didn’t have anything in particular to pursue, but I just said it in a plausible way (laughs).

What would be the most memorable ad you’ve ever created?

The ‘King of Play (Grand Saga advertisement)’ project. It was a strange advertisement in which several characters such as Yoo Ah-in, Shin-goo, Um Tae-goo, Lee Mal-nyeon, Joo Ho-min, Bae Sung-woo, Cho Yeo-jeong, Park Hee-soon, Lee Gyeong-yeong, Tae-yeon, and Yang Dong-geun appeared as elementary school students and put on a play.

I think there are many difficulties.

Because of the bizarre concept, it became a problem from the casting stage. All I could say was to trust the actors who were worried about how they would look. Also, filming with 10 young children was really not easy. Post-production took a long time because all the cuts had to synthesize the child’s body with the actor’s face. In addition, it was a challenging project in many ways, as there was no precedent in the advertising industry for a running time of 10 minutes.

On the other hand, CEO Shin, who said he had no specific values ​​to pursue, had hopes.

“There is a football team called ‘Arsenal’ in the English Premier League that has not won a championship in nearly 20 years. I won’t win anyway, so I’m the manager, so I want to lead (Arsenal) for just one season.”
