The President’s Office and the Democratic Party held their first working meeting yesterday (23rd) and discussed the date and agenda of the summit meeting.

The Democratic Party is said to have proposed support for the recovery of people’s livelihoods and the acceptance of the ‘Special Prosecutor Chae Sang-byeong Act’ as its main agenda.

Representative Lee Jae-myung once again put pressure on the President’s Office and the ruling party, saying that he would pass the ‘Special Prosecutor Chae Sang-byeong Act’ within the 21st National Assembly.

He then quoted the political thinker Machiavelli, who said, “The father of all truth is time.”

It is said that the Democratic Party also demanded that President Yoon Seok-yeol apologize for exercising his veto on the ‘Itaewon Disaster Special Act’.

However, it is true that it is difficult for the President’s Office to accept the special prosecution law or the request for an apology.

However, there are observations that there may be room for negotiation regarding the size and target of support in the case of subsidies for people’s livelihood recovery.

We will only know after the second working meeting, but it appears that it will be difficult to achieve this week’s meeting.

Meanwhile, the People Power Party said that the people want to agree on a more productive agenda.

At the same time, he asked that the agenda for the summit meeting focus on current issues such as price measures rather than subsidies for people’s livelihood recovery.

Both the ruling and opposition parties will elect new floor leaders on the 3rd of next month.

What characters are being mentioned?

In the People Power Party, weight is being given to the rumor that Representative Lee Cheol-gyu, a ‘key pro-Yoon faction’, will run as the successor to floor leader Yoon Jae-ok.

There is an interpretation that Rep. Lee is trying to rally the three, even though he held breakfast meetings with party recruits on two consecutive days.

The names of four-term lawmakers from the Yeongnam region, including Kim Do-eup, Kim Sang-hoon, and Park Dae-chul, are also mentioned as candidates.

However, neither of them officially declared their candidacy.

In the Democratic Party, Supreme Council member Park Chan-dae, who declared that he would resign from his position this morning (24th), is seen as a pro-Myung faction candidate.

After Supreme Council member Park announced his candidacy, pro-Myung faction lawmaker Kim Min-seok, who succeeded in his fourth term, hinted that he would not run in the primary.

Other pro-Myung faction members Kim Byeong-gi, Kim Young-jin, Kim Seong-hwan and Supreme Council member Seo Young-kyo also decided not to challenge.

In addition, Reps. Kang Hoon-sik, Park Joo-min, and Han Byeong-do are mentioned as candidates for Democratic Party floor leader.
