Suwon KT Wiz, a professional baseball team, achieved victory by scoring multiple points against Hanwha Eagles’ ace Ryu Hyun-jin.
KT defeated Hanwha 7-1 in the regular season game of the ‘2024 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League’ held at Suwon KT Wiz Park on the 24th.
Hanwha took a 1-0 lead with Peraza’s solo home run in the top of the first inning.
KT succeeded in targeting Hanwha starting pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin in the bottom of the third inning. Cheon Seong-ho’s hit allowed Ahn Chi-young to hit home to tie the score at 1-1, and Kang Baek-ho hit a hit and Kim Sang-soo scored to make it 2-1. When Rojas hit an infield grounder, 3rd base runner Cheon Seong-ho scored, giving KT a 3-1 lead. Rojas was declared out in the first decision, but at KT’s request, a safe decision was made after a video review.
In the bottom of the 4th inning, KT scored 4 runs thanks to Kim Sang-soo’s 2-RBI double and Hanwha’s error, taking the lead 7-1.
It was a game where not only the performance of the batters but also KT’s starting pitcher Benjamin shined. Benjamin became the winning pitcher by allowing only 2 hits and 1 run in 8 innings. Woo Gyu-min, who took the mound after Benjamin, pitched one inning without allowing any runs and preserved the team’s victory.
On the other hand, Hanwha Ryu Hyun-jin allowed 7 runs (5 earned runs) in 5 innings and became the losing pitcher.
KT Kang Baek-ho and Jang Seong-woo led the attack with three hits each.
KT will challenge for victory with Won Sang-hyun as the starter against Hanwha at Suwon KT Wiz Park on the 25th. Pena will appear as Hanwha’s starting pitcher.
