Nexon’s highly anticipated work ‘The First Descendant’, which is set to target the global market, is undergoing final testing ahead of its release. Testing next month is expected to verify the technical completeness of the work and speed up its release.

Nexon released a DevChat live broadcast of its new multi-platform game ‘First Descendant’ on the 25th. In the live broadcast on this day, PD Beom-jun Lee and Director Joo Min-seok, who oversee the development of the work, attended and introduced the test schedule, new content, and reflection of user feedback.

‘First Descendant’ is a route shooter genre game that adds the fun of action RPG to a shooter game. It is a game that boasts high-quality graphics produced with Unreal Engine 5, an attractive SF fantasy world view, and battles against giant bosses conducted through cooperation with other players.

Players are ‘successors’ who fight against invaders for the survival of humanity, and can experience a spectacular story in which they grow through various missions and stories and learn the secrets of the successors.

According to the broadcast, Nexon will hold the final technical test of ‘First Descendant’ for two days from 4 PM on the 25th of next month to 4 PM on the 27th (Korean time). It has been about 7 months since the crossplay open beta test held in September last year.

The test lasts only 48 hours, and anyone can participate on the gaming platform Steam without prior application. It supports a total of 12 languages, including Korean, and supports Korean and English dubbing.

This test is the last open beta test before the official global release of ‘First Descendant’. The process focuses on verifying technical completeness, including client stability, server optimization, and security. The period was set to be somewhat short in order to conduct intensive technical testing over the weekend. Additionally, because the focus is on optimization and stability, console devices are excluded from testing.

The ‘First Descendant’ development team amplified users’ expectations by introducing the status of content improvements centered on mission play. Various new content and convenience improvements were introduced due to changes in field structure and rules. Among them, the core content ‘Mission’ is actively reflected in past feedback and improved so that users can feel the changes and experience fun.

The development team unveiled the instance dungeon ‘Operation Recapture’ as new end content. Recapture Operation supports both single and cooperative play, and difficulty can be adjusted depending on the number of participants. It is also expected to become the main content of the work by providing a variety of additional difficulty options and introducing new gimmicks and trap elements.

Players can enter each dungeon through terminals in Albion and mission beacons in the field, with the goal of recovering enemy-occupied bases and annihilating enemy forces. There are two levels of difficulty: ‘Normal’ and ‘Difficult’, and ‘Normal’ is content centered on clearing missions given at a popular difficulty level. ‘Difficult’ serves as end content where you can experience the fun of conquering missions and obtaining rewards through challenging difficulty levels.

The development team accepted the feedback shared in the last test and improved the mission progress rules, such as preventing interactions with multiple objects from occurring simultaneously. Not only does it enable comfortable interaction with multiple objects in the process of achieving mission goals, but it also broadly improves the visibility of the UI for displaying various information such as mission tracking and status notifications.

In addition, for immersion in play, the overall monster AI has been improved to improve the perfection of details such as the movement of monsters that cannot track the player well during battle and their appearance when hiding or taking cover.

In addition, in case of ammunition shortage during missions, ‘resource droids’ to provide ammunition are placed in key locations such as camps, dungeons, and fields, allowing players to experience strategic ammunition management and tension at the same time.

Nexon Games PD Lee Beom-jun said, “We plan to reflect the opinions of users and continue to add various content and convenient functions for rich game play before and after launch. We are preparing so that you can check it in future tests, so there is a lot of interest.” “Please give me your opinion,” he said.
