Jeong-hoo Lee (26, San Francisco Giants) ended his streak of being on base in 13 consecutive games.

Lee Jung-hoo started as the number one hitter and center fielder in the home game against the New York Mets in the 2024 Major League Baseball (MLB) regular season held at Oracle Park in San Francisco, California on the 24th (Korean time) and was silent with no hits in four at-bats. His season batting average fell from 0.284 to 0.272 (25 hits in 92 at-bats).

In his first at-bat in the first inning, Jeong-hoo Lee was out with a ground ball to first base against Mets starter Luis Severino, and in his second at-bat in the fourth inning, he was out with a ground ball to shortstop. In the third at-bat of the 5th inning, when the team was ahead 3-0, he attacked Severino’s low ball, but it turned into a grounder to first base. In the last at-bat of the 7th inning, a foul fly by the third baseman left something to be desired.

Lee Jeong-hoo showed off his good performance by continuing to be on base for 13 consecutive games, from the San Diego Padres game on the 8th to the Mets game on the 23rd. It seemed like he was approaching the record of 17 games, the longest consecutive game on base in a Korean big leaguer’s debut season set by Kang Jung-ho in 2015. However, his consecutive game on-base streak came to an end as he failed to get on base even once that day.

San Francisco won 5-1 over the Mets. San Francisco, which won two games in a row, rose to third place in the National League West Division with 12 wins and 13 losses. They are two games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers (14 wins, 11 losses), who are ranked first in the district.
