SSG Choi Jeong’s home run ball was caught by a KIA fan… “Starbucks free for 1 year” windfall

The lucky person who caught the most home runs in the KBO League, launched by SSG Landers’ signature hitter Choi Jeong, was KIA Tigers fan Kang Seong-gu.

While watching the 2024 Shinhan Bank SOL Bank KBO League SSG-Lotte Giants game held at Sajik Stadium in Busan on the 24th, he caught Choi Jeong’s home run ball that flew into the left outfield with his glove in the top of the 5th inning.

This home run was a shot that rewrote KBO League history. Choi Jeong-eun, who hit her 468th home run, surpassed Doosan Bears coach Lee Seung-yeop, the ‘national hitter’ who hit 467 home runs during her career, and ranked first in the KBO League’s career home run category.

This historic ball returned to Choi Jeong’s hands when Kang donated it to the SSG club.

Mr. Kang, who lives in Seoul, is currently working in Busan for a company project. He realized that Choi Jeong was challenging the record for the most home runs, analyzed the direction, and purchased a seat ticket. The direction of the hit was exactly right. He, who usually plays baseball, caught a home run ball with his glove.

Mr. Kang said, “I willingly donated a home run ball after seeing a free one-year Starbucks ticket. My younger brother is a fan of SSG, so I will give him a gift related to the team.”

The SSG club provided free one-year Starbucks beverage vouchers, Chosun Hotel lodging vouchers, SSG.com gift certificates, and E-Mart online gift certificates. In addition, two live zone season tickets for 2024 and 2025, a bat autographed by Choi Jeong, a large logo ball signed by the team, and two tickets to participate in the 2025 spring camp tour were given away.

Mr. Kang smiled and said, “Still, I hope KIA wins this season.”
