It’s cheap but works well! Tried G-Clicker GK-K510X Special mechanical gaming keyboard

--

It’s been quite a while since mechanical keyboard prices became realistic. However, the problem with the early mechanical keyboards that were released at low prices was that they did not provide a design or smooth key feel that satisfied consumers. Nevertheless, the fact that mechanical keyboards, which had previously been considered only expensive hardware, could be obtained at a low price received attention from consumers, and thanks to this, the market grew explosively.

However, in recent years, the quality of mechanical keyboards has improved, and various mechanical keyboards have been released on the market. Custom products that lubricate switches for smooth typing or that cost hundreds of millions of won have also appeared. It feels like the second renaissance of mechanical keyboards has begun.

Recently, the quality of mechanical keyboards that can be purchased for tens of thousands of won has improved considerably. At this point, you might be tempted to go wireless, but if you’re using it in a fixed location, the advantage of wireless isn’t that great, so if you can give it up, you can get quite good key feel at a low price.

Recently, G-Clicker has been releasing peripherals quite aggressively, and the product we will look at today, GK-K510X Special, is an entry-level mechanical keyboard that can be purchased at a fairly low price. In addition, if you purchase this keyboard, a wired mouse is provided as a service, making it the best cost-effective product available.

Everything except the space required for switch placement was completely excluded. Thanks to this, even though it is a keyboard that provides a standard 104-key layout, it has a very slim design. In fact, it makes you think that consumers would have preferred it more if it had been configured as tenkeyless. You can choose between two colors: black and white.

The Vicky style, which has a switch mounted on top of the top, may have different likes and dislikes depending on the user. This is a style that the author personally dislikes quite a bit, but for a solid key feel, an aluminum top plate is used and the extra space is drastically reduced, so it feels like it has been completed in a decent style for this style of keyboard.

The design, which may seem boring, is reinforced with diamond cutting processing on the edge of the aluminum top plate. The unique texture of the aluminum material is revealed, making it quite luxurious, and thanks to this top structure and style, it feels quite expensive to the point that it does not look like a keyboard priced in the 30,000 won range.

Most people believed that the switch was the element that had a decisive influence on the feel of the keys on a mechanical keyboard. However, recently, as it has become known that even ordinary switches can create an attractive key feel or a beautiful sound that catches the ear, the criteria for selecting a mechanical keyboard have become quite diverse.

If you look at products that have been gaining popularity recently, you can find that most of them have a surprisingly heavy aluminum housing as their base, and that they are products with an exquisite balance between switches, keycaps, and reinforcement plates. You can’t expect all of this from an entry-level keyboard like the GK-K510X, but the red model we tested seems to have succeeded in raising the key feel and sound to a decent level with just the aluminum top. It is pressed smoothly enough to be satisfying, and makes a pleasing sound. It’s not comparable to high-end keyboards, but it’s attractive enough.

It uses JIXIAN’s GNC switch, and there are four choices: blue, brown, red, and yellow. It supports gaming functions such as infinite simultaneous input, so if you plan to mainly use it for gaming, I would recommend the yellow axis, and if you are in an environment where typing is the main focus, I would recommend the brown axis. If you can’t give up both gaming and typing, it feels like you have no choice.

Let’s also take a look at the mouse provided as a service. It’s a wired mouse with a design you’ve probably seen somewhere before, but it’s acceptable as it’s a free gift provided when you purchase a keyboard. Rather, we are surprised at the fact that it provides a very satisfactory grip, perhaps thanks to the adoption of a proven style.

It has everything you need, including convenient forward/backward buttons and a DPI control button that can be adjusted in 4 levels from 800 to 2400. If it had supported wireless and a slightly higher DPI, its usability would have been quite high, but I think it would be a bit greedy to expect a wireless mouse as a service for a mechanical keyboard at this price.

When you connect the power, the G-Clicker logo on the palm cover begins to glow. The LED effect is also applied along the border. The harmony between the design of the mouse and the LED light is quite good. The color of the LED continuously changes every 2 to 3 seconds.

# GK-K510X Special, more colorful with RAINBOW LED LIGHT

G-Clicker GK-K510X Special is an inexpensive, entry-level mechanical keyboard that can be purchased for just 30,000 won. Nevertheless, you can enjoy a sense of luxury that goes beyond the price with a slim design and an aluminum top that adds a sense of luxury. There are traces of care taken to provide value beyond the price, such as applying a noise filter to reduce noise to the guitar cable and applying gold plating to the USB connector.

It also supports infinite simultaneous input for games. You can get a keyboard optimized for gaming at an affordable price. Additional features for convenience of use, such as the application of Steps Culture 2 for smooth typing and 12 multimedia function keys for quick multimedia control, are also provided, and the full-array keyboard is very slim in size, making it more convenient to use even in relatively narrow spaces. .

G-Clicker calls the LED effect applied to its peripheral series “Rainbow LED Light.” Not only does it support multiple LED modes by default, but it can also be customized to suit the user’s taste. All settings can be completed with just the setting keys on the keyboard without any additional software, so once you get used to it, it is much more intuitive to use.

The white version with a silver-colored aluminum top also has a higher light reflectance, making the LED effect a little more flashy. Comparatively, the black color produces a slightly more neat LED effect.

Users who are accustomed to wireless may find a wired mouse uncomfortable. However, since it is a mouse provided as a service, the quality is quite good. The grip is at a decent level, and the LED effect is pretty. You can adjust the DPI along with the forward/backward buttons, making it suitable for use in games. If you keep it on hand, it is perfect as an emergency mouse in case of a mouse malfunction that may occur at any time.

How can I design a Vicky style keyboard to make it look pretty? G-Clicker GK-K510X Special feels like it has found its own solution. It’s simple and luxurious, and the keys have good feel. I think it would be a good idea to keep an eye on this product as it is a product with great value compared to the price you pay.
