Park Seong-hoon’s ‘evil history’ that lost his name again

When I meet your sparkling eyes, I feel like I’m going to pierce the abyss. The attitude of setting a goal for what I want and using whatever means is necessary to achieve it, and the strategy of pouring out strategies with a smart mind without hesitation, reminds me of a snake.

In the tvN Saturday-Sunday drama ‘Queen of Tears’ (written by Park Ji-eun, directed by Jang Young-woo and Kim Hee-won), Yoon Eun-seong (Park Seong-hoon) moves desperately to get Hong Hae-in (Kim Ji-won), who has been in his heart for a long time, like a snake hunting. It is similar in appearance. This can be seen from the fact that he hides his completely dark feelings under a kind face, closes the distance slowly and quietly so that no one notices as much as possible, and only reveals his true feelings after confirming that the target is within range. He hinted at Hong Hae-in, saying, “Get a divorce,” and lightly said, “If the seat next to you is empty, what about me?”, but the weight of his heart contained in these words was not light at all.

I guess Yoon Eun-seong recognizes his feelings for Hong Hae-in as pure love and sees it as a goal that must be achieved. Otherwise, it would be impossible for her to still cherish Hong Hae-in, whom she met as a college classmate, even after she was over 30. She doesn’t even care about the reality of Hong Hae-in, who is a married woman in her third year of marriage, and instead expresses how much effort she has put in to become a person of value to Hong Hae-in. It is basic to threaten her by asking if I can shake off her outstretched hand even if I lose everything she has to the Red Sea people. Of course, from Yoon Eun-seong’s point of view, it must have been a desperate cry and a cry for him to understand my heart.

Come to think of it, Yoon Eun-seong is a thorough man who was born into the third generation of a chaebol and calculated the timing when he would need me in order to have a perfect reunion with Hong Hae-in, who has never known any material shortcomings in his life and who has never once said a word of regret to anyone. This kind of disposition can be seen just by looking at his unfortunate childhood and finally getting the Queens group under his control. Meanwhile, seeing that he divides people according to need and mercilessly takes their lives when they are no longer useful, it is clear that his character is trash that is difficult to separate and collect.

I can’t cheer for a moment when Yoon Eun-seong’s face is distorted like this. The unfortunate narrative revealed briefly cannot serve as a shield for his evil deeds, his crooked life, and all his vicious decisions. However, it is a pity that the charm that attracts even the chairman of a large company and that he is thorough in any situation is useless only in the face of love, and that no matter how much he captivates the conglomerates and keeps them in line, he cannot capture my love. Perhaps because he has never received it, it is actor Park Sung-hoon’s outstanding acting skills that makes it possible to hate (or curse) the distorted pure love of a bad man who is not good at love.

At the beginning of the play, Park Seong-hoon expressed an ambiguous attitude that was not friendly but not affectionate, and was cold as if not cold, through his voice, breathing, and fine control of facial muscles. Thanks to this, Yoon Eun-seong appeared as a character whose true intentions were difficult to understand, raising curiosity among viewers. His eyes changed in detail depending on the opponent, changing the flow of air, and his acting was enough to inject tension into the play. As the drama came to an end, it seemed like no more answers could be expected, but Yoon Eun-seong’s twisted story of pure love continued with a creepy and gruesome kidnapping story, as if to show that it wasn’t over until the end.

Among the characters played by Park Seong-hoon, the one who attracts viewers’ attention along with ‘Queen of Tears’ is Jeon Jae-jun from the Netflix original series ‘The Glory’ (written by Kim Eun-sook, directed by Ahn Gil-ho). In the play, Jeon Jae-jun is a perpetrator of school violence who commits heinous evil deeds, and the reasons for his bad behavior are not revealed in detail. He has a vicious personality, is vicious to the core, and cannot be tolerated. As the word says, he is nothing but a ‘dog’ and trash. However, he has a red-green colorblindness, and he has a deficiency that comes from not being able to achieve love with the woman he loves (Yeonjin). However, it is impossible to understand a person who resolves his physical and mental deficiencies by swinging his fists and spitting dirty words at those who are weaker than him. When this drama was released, viewers also pointed their fingers at Jeon Jae-jun, but were only persuaded by Park Sung-hoon’s acting, which captivatingly completed the character.

This is not to compare ‘Which I was simply impressed by the acting of actor Park Sung-hoon, who expressed the two evil Yoon Eun-seong, who is creepy as a snake, Jeon Jae-jun, who is also a bad guy but is somewhat sloppy, and Park Sung-hoon’s delicate and colorful acting made the drama more enjoyable to watch.

Until just a few years ago, it was said that actors who played villain characters in dramas had difficulty eating comfortably at restaurants for a while, along with the popularity of the dramas. For actors who play good characters, food is added to the service, but for actors who play villains, everyone from the restaurant owner to the customers don’t hesitate to slap their backs and ask, ‘Why are you bothering XX (the main character who plays the good character)?’ Because I did it. It’s now a story from the past, but if it’s still the same now, Park Seong-hoon’s back probably won’t be left for a while.
