Despite the high popularity of tvN’s Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Seonjae and Jump’ (written by Lee Si-eun, directed by Yoon Jong-ho), viewership ratings are stagnant.
‘Bounce with Sunjae’, which started with a viewership rating of 3.1% (Nielsen Korea, national standard) on its first broadcast on April 8, fell to 2.7% in the second episode, but rebounded to 3.4% in the third episode. However, from episodes 3 to 6, the viewership rating remains unchanged at 3.4%.
In the 6th episode of ‘Seonjae and Jump’, which aired on the 23rd, the straight-forward romance of Ryu Seon-jae (Byeon Woo-seok), who no longer hides his feelings and approaches Im Sol (Kim Hye-yoon) without hesitation, was depicted. At the same time, Im Sol’s feelings of love grew as she realized that she was Ryu Seon-jae’s first love and the protagonist of her first self-composed song ‘Shower’.
On the other hand, it also created new tensions. At the end of the episode, a taxi carrying a mysterious man who was targeting Im-sol blocked the front of Im-sol, and after that, Im-sol disappeared. Ryu Seon-jae raised the tension by discovering Im Sol’s umbrella abandoned on the ground after passing a taxi exiting an alley.
In this way, the 6th episode of ‘Seonjae Jumps’ brought dramatic fun by going back and forth between romance, fantasy, and thrill, but there was no change in viewership ratings.
On the contrary, the topicality of ‘Seonjae and Jump’ is by far the best.
In the results of the TV-OTT drama topicality survey for the second week of April announced by Good Data Corporation, a K-content online competitiveness analysis agency, ‘Seonjae and Jump’ recorded a topicality score of 42,393 points. This is the highest first week figure among TV dramas broadcast in the past year.
According to Tving, the number of paid subscription contributors (content viewed as soon as they joined Tving) also exceeded 10,000 within a week of the broadcast.
The amount of digital mentions is truly overwhelming.

In fact, the 2049 male and female viewership ratings for the 6th episode of ‘Seonjae and Jump’ recorded an average of 1.8% and a maximum of 2.0% based on Nielsen Korea’s nationwide households, ranking first in the same time slot on all channels, including terrestrial broadcasting.
Film critic Jeong said, “This work is comparable to the Taiwanese drama ‘Sanggyeonni’ (with the same time slip setting). Although the content is different, the two-way salvation narrative of the characters in the play that takes place within the time slip attracts attention and immerses viewers. “And we are expanding our base through word of mouth,” he said.
In addition, he predicted that viewership ratings will rise in the future thanks to the topicality, saying, “These days, the middle-aged generation is also a generation that has experienced fandom, so the strength of this drama is that it has a clear fantasy that even they can fall in love with once they see it.”
