Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed gratitude for the U.S. Congress’ final approval of a $60.8 billion (approximately 83.3 trillion won) aid budget for Ukraine on the 24th (local time).

He then expressed his gratitude, saying, “I would like to thank Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer and Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, who pushed for a bipartisan bill with strong leadership, and all senators from both parties who voted in favor.”

President Zelensky highly praised the vote, saying, “This vote strengthens the role of the United States as a beacon of democracy and leader of the free world.”

He also said, “I would like to thank all Americans who continue to support Ukraine and recognize that the historical significance of this bill goes beyond politics.”

He continued, “I am equally grateful for (US President) Joe Biden’s support, and I look forward to the bill being signed soon and the next military aid package commensurate with the determination we have always seen in our negotiations.”

President Zelenskyy expressed, “Ukraine’s long-range weapons, artillery, and air defense capabilities are important means for restoring a just peace more quickly.”

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Schmihal also expressed his gratitude to the US Senate.

He told X: “The Senate approved $61 billion for Ukraine. “This aid package bill has received the support of both houses of the (US) Senate and House of Representatives,” he wrote, adding, “The bill will now be forwarded to the President of the United States for signature.”

He continued, “I gained confidence from my meeting with U.S. senators, especially Representative Schumer and Representative McConnell, that support for Ukraine is firm,” and added, “I am grateful for their stable leadership in the fight for freedom. “We look forward to continued strong support.”

Following the House of Representatives meeting on the 20th, the U.S. Senate finally passed a budget bill worth a total of $95 billion (about 130 trillion won), including $61 billion for Ukraine, $26 billion for Israel, and $8 billion for Taiwan and the Asia-Pacific region.

The bill is scheduled to take effect after being signed by President Biden on the 24th.
