The Gangwon Provincial Council’s chairmanship plans to visit the Gangwon Free Economic Zone Authority on April 25 to receive a report on major business implementation plans for 2024 and work together to resolve pending issues.
Since last March, the chairman’s group has visited 12 places, including donors and donor organizations and direct organizations under the Office of Education, and this is the fifth visit, continuing to strengthen field-centered legislative activities.
In particular, during this visit, we plan to intensively inspect Mangsang District 1, which has been having difficulty selecting an alternative development project operator due to the continuous spread of false information since last year.
In Mangsang District 1, in the process of conducting a public offering for a project operator, an unknown group posted false information through illegal banners and repeatedly filed and withdrew complaints to investigative agencies, so the Gangwon Metropolitan Police Agency requested an investigation from the police.
Chairman Kwon Hyeok-yeol said, “It has been 10 years since the Gangwon Free Economic Zone was designated, but there have been many ups and downs such as conflicts with local residents, cancellation of business designation, and administrative errors.” He added, “We need to resolve the currently controversial Mangsang District issue as soon as possible.” “We plan to use this visit to seek out various support measures at the congressional level so that the issue can be resolved within the time limit,” he said.
