The first leak of Lee Sun-kyun’s case, the prosecution, not the police?… Seizure and search conducted

Regarding the case of actor Lee Sun-gyun, who died while being investigated for drug use, information related to the initial report on the case was first leaked from the prosecution.

According to investigative authorities on the 25th, the Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency’s Anti-Corruption and Economic Crime Investigation Team conducted a search and seizure of Incheon District Prosecutors’ Office and local media company A on the 15th.

In addition, Mr. B, an investigator from the Incheon District Prosecutors’ Office, was booked on charges of leaking secrets while performing official duties.

Mr. B is accused of conveying information to Company A, a local newspaper in the Gyeonggi region, that Mr. Lee was being investigated by the police on drug charges.

Company A exclusively reported this incident on October 19 last year in an article titled ‘Top star Mr. L is under internal investigation on drug charges.’

It is reported that the police discovered Mr. B’s suspicions while investigating how Company A first reported Mr. Lee’s case and began a mandatory investigation.

The police secured Mr. B’s mobile phone through search and seizure, and plan to reveal the true nature of the case through forensic work.

Mr. Lee’s drug case, which was previously handled by the drug crime investigation unit of the Incheon Police Agency, was first reported by Company A in an anonymous article and was followed by reports from various media outlets, making it known to the public.

Mr. Lee was criminally booked on October 14 last year, ahead of media reports, and was summoned and interrogated by the police three times over a period of about two months.

He was found dead near Waryong Park in Jongno-gu, Seoul on December 27 last year, four days after being summoned for the third interrogation.
