(Daily Daegu-Gyeongbuk News = Reporter Kim Hyeong-man) On April 26, Gyeongbuk Province Governor Lee Cheol-woo met with Robb Pitts, chairman of Fulton County, Georgia, USA, and Georgia state economic officials. This is Chairman Rob Pitts’ third visit since August of last year.

This visit was attended by government and economic officials, including Chairman Rob Pitts, Georgia State Senator Brandon Beach, Georgia Economic Development Director Fairburn City, and Fulton County Development Agency Deputy Director, to discuss ways to promote exchange between Gyeongbuk Province and Georgia. We had a deep conversation.

Georgia is a major transportation hub in the U.S. and has been selected as the No. 1 state for doing business for 10 consecutive years since 2014 due to corporate tax cuts and efficient supply of corporate talent.

About 140 Korean companies, including Hyundai and Kia Motors’ U.S. electric vehicle factories, are operating in the region, and auto parts companies located in Daegu and Gyeongbuk are advancing into the region and carrying out business activities.

Chairman Pitts and Georgia officials said, “We hope that this visit to Gyeongbuk Province and meeting will provide a foundation for cooperation between the two governments and for businesses in Georgia and Gyeongbuk Province to cooperate.”

In response, Governor Lee Cheol-woo said, “Georgia is a representative city that has transformed from a cotton field in the past to a corporate support hub, and there are many areas for mutual cooperation with Gyeongbuk Province.” He added, “We are infinitely grateful to Chairman Rob Pitts and Georgia officials for their visit to the province, and we look forward to working with businesses in the province.” “I hope that through this successful meeting, exchanges in various fields between the two regions will become more active,” he said.

In the afternoon, Chairman Pitts, economic officials, and seven small and medium-sized companies in the province, including IT/medical/robotics, attended a meeting to prepare ways to expand economic and trade cooperation between the two regions.

Participating companies in Gyeongbuk Province include Neuromeca (robotic arm), Onesoft Dime (portable body composition analyzer), Seyoung Information & Communication (communication equipment), Hexhive (black box, CCTV), Yes Korea (door lock), and VSpace (rechargeable battery) , unmanned aerial vehicle), and Polaris 3D (serving robot), we plan to pioneer markets, discover buyers, and advance into local markets in various regions such as the U.S. market and European markets in the future.

At the meeting, we introduced the industrial environment of Gyeongbuk, which is the birthplace of the steel and information and communication industries, which are the basis of Korea’s economic development, and is currently driving national strategic industries such as semiconductors in Gumi and the operation of a secondary battery specialized complex in Pohang, and the creation of corporate jobs and Discussions were held on policy measures to revitalize trade between the two countries and create a business-friendly environment.
